The Dellums Institute for Social Justice is hiring a Housing Justice Community Organizer!
The Dellums Institute for Social Justice and the Our Beloved Community Action Network (B-CAN) are looking for a dedicated and experienced Community Organizer passionate about the intersections between racial, housing, and criminal justice transformation. Led by social justice movement and former government leaders, the Dellums Institute is an inter-generational social justice incubator and convener of structural change initiatives, including B-CAN. The B-CAN is a network of over thirty faith, housing, political, and tech equity organizations and leaders working together to prevent racial injustice and displacement in Alameda County. Through principled and strategic campaigns, B-CAN leaders recently secured $65 million in new public funds for anti-displacement safety net services.
Building on the previous efforts of the Richmond Safe Return Project and its partners to pass California’s pioneering and broadest policy to remove housing access barriers for formerly incarcerated residents, we will be operating similar community change campaigns in other East Bay jurisdictions.
The Organizer will report to the Executive Director of the Dellums Institute and will work closely and collaboratively with B-CAN leaders and organizations. This position includes some evening and weekend responsibilities, and travel within the Bay Area.
